When reflecting on the trending spring colors, we were inspired by Pantone’s Color of the Year Veri Peri. Our spring color, amethyst purple, takes a softer approach to the shade with similar purple undertones, calling back to the pastel hues of lilac buds, lavender fields, and the blossoming of jacaranda trees.

When thinking about incorporating purple into your existing home design you should consider colors that go with purple. Bright spring colors like yellow, orange, and green make for great accents to purple color schemes within the home because they complement purple on the color wheel.
If you’re looking for a more neutral palette, though, grays, whites and blacks are perfect shades that are often used to balance out bold colors. In an all-white color scheme, for instance, amethyst purple becomes a beautiful accent that instantly brightens up the space.

A more subtle approach to incorporating amethyst purple tones into your home design is through area rugs. Area rugs are the perfect addition to any living room, mudroom or open-concept space where you want to delineate conversation areas. Whether you’re looking for something to hide spills and dirt tracked in from outside, or just wanting to add a touch of color to your room, purple area rugs are available in a wide array of patterns, sizes and colorways. This traditional Persian area rug from Nourison’s Kathy Ireland collection lends a modern touch to a classic design with a field of flowers in contemporary colors like gray, ivory, beige, and purple.

One of our favorite ways to incorporate this color is through natural stone. Since amethyst purple is a natural stone, think about stones that call upon a similar color such as marble or porcelain with purple veining. For instance, Emser’s Chronicle Record porcelain tile is designed to replicate vein-cut marble in a purple-gray vein. You can use all kinds of natural stone in your home design from subtle backsplashes behind the kitchen sink to bold purple mosaic accent walls in the shower.
You can easily find ways to incorporate purple accents through your home decor using mixed media from wallpaper to flooring to window treatments and more. Maybe your child has been asking for a purple bedroom or you’re thinking about purple walls as accents in the living room —amethyst purple is a great compromise. This pale purple still has the beauty of rich purple tones and can be toned down to a neutral, muted palette when mixed with grays or brightened up with whites.
